It is a tie between Biology and US History!
Can you tell us what inspired you to make this video?
Many students are intimidated by science because they think it is too hard or that they will never use it. My goal was to show people we are all scientists and that science is part of everyday living.
Understanding science helps kids appreciate our world and peeks our natural curiosity of solving puzzles and problem solving.
What are your interests or hobbies?
Public policy where I can utilize my science knowledge and examine ways in which politics and government can use scientific information to reach policy decisions on complex issues facing our country.
Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) Research is an area that I am very passionate about from a deeply personal level. I spent the last year conducting researching at UCSD School of Medicine, in the National Center for Microscopy and Imaging Research (MCMIR). My research is focused on implications in neuro degenerative diseases synapse alterations in the cortex from people with AD. I plan to enter my project in the 2011 Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Science Fair.
What inspires you about science?
Science inspires me in many ways. As I look at our great country there are so many advances we have made to the world by our nation’s scientist. Science is the gateway to our nation’s future. The more we can learn and experiment we can find new I want to be part of that future.
Anything else you want to tell us about yourself?
I am a passionate person about everything I do. I hold several key leadership roles at school and I am an active participant in my community, which in turn, allows me to make changes no matter how small they seem to be. Currently I am running for Vice President of my school. We will see what happens with the elections this week.
