Ugh. It's been a busy couple of weeks, but it looks like it might be slowing down a bit. We had a few projects to finish up at work and Heather and I finally had a chance to spend some time together away from work. So excuse the short hiatus.
I got hit with one more thing this weekend that took some time. The GM of our WoW guild (who happens to be my brother) was approached by the GM of another guild who recently lost a significant number of players to a larger, farther progressed guild on our server. He wanted to transfer about 15 to 20 of his guildies over to us, as we are approximately at the same progression level. When it rains it pours; on top of the guild merger we had about five other players join from word of mouth or friends of friends. There's a lot of new names in guild chat and people seem to be running dungeons more often.
My brother was away for the weekend, so it was up to me to get them in, welcomed and established. It couldn't have been a better time for such an influx of recruits. Our Gruul's runs were starting to deteriorate due to RL issues. Now we have enough people to finally start running two 25 man raid days a week and work our way through some of these bigger dungeons. It's a blast getting that many people together and on the same page. About a third of the Gruul's raid was made up of new guildies on Saturday and we downed HKM with no problems. Gruul is a different story. We were getting MT death around 25%. We'll get him this week.
Last night in ZA we finally killed Akil'zon. It took some getting used to for people I think, especially with the boss mod timer broken on that boss. It's just so much easier to listen for the storm and run in. Once we had everyone recognizing when it was coming, we downed him with relative ease.
The officers in the guild have a steep management task before us, getting these folks on regular raiding teams (especially Karazhan) and hoping that they take.
I'll have some pics up from Sweetwater Creek State Park up in a bit, which was a beautiful area to visit.

I feel your pain -- my guild did this exact thing this past November, only with the added fun of creating a new guild to be the merged entity AND with the new folks being transfers in from a different server.
Overall, it's worked out fine, though. You'll be seeing SSC bosses going down sooner than you'd imagine.

I think I need a new guild. I got my first 70 on one of my rogues about 2 months ago, and haven't run a single dungeon yet. Can never get in on the times they have set up.
WoW - I love it and hate it at the same time.

WoW has gotten you too? I didn't know you had been sucked into the abyss! My laptop unfortunately does not approve of it, but I suppose its for the best. Before my harddrive got overloaded, I got my lock up to 59, but that's the farthest I got, but I can sympathize with guilds being a time suck; its been that way since Gemstone III for me.
I admit, I have been slacking on reading over your blog; although I don't seem to do much here, Denmark is a total time suck as well (back in 10 days!). I've entered my hat into the blogging ring as well, although I'm not really sure where I'm going with it quite yet.
Hope to catch up with you soon.
