About
The name of this blog refers to the ion channels (voltage-gated) that line the membranes upon which nerve impulses travel. They open and close according to electrical signaling, allowing the movement of ions across the membrane in order to continue the impulse, the action potential, the pulse of information.
Jeremy Bruno is a writer specializing in science communication. He started The Voltage Gate at Blogger in April of 2006 to join the growing community of science bloggers and to stretch his writing muscles.
Jeremy grew up Annapolis, Maryland. Working in the "hospitality" industry for over a decade gave him the incentive to return to college and pursue his love of science and writing.
