Profile

PalMD is a practicing internist in the Great Lakes region of the U.S.. Aside from the great joy he finds in his family and his work, he likes communicating some of that joy to others. He has a special interest in the ways patients---and we are all patients at one time or another---are deceived by charlatans. He aims to change the world, one reader at a time. Previous writings can still be found here, and here. I also write twice a month for Science-Based Medicine

I believe!

Category: Narcissistic self-involvement
Posted on: January 19, 2009 8:31 AM, by PalMD

I'm normally not one to believe in the improbable, but someone has laid some serious ju-ju on me. While away at my fabulous geek-cation, my computer bit it, my furnace at home died, and....(God, I can hardly type it...)...MY DSL WENT DOWN!!!1!

Just in time for the launch of my brand-spanking-new blog, just in time for me to share all of my insightful thoughts from ScienceOnline09, my tech life imploded.

So please, dear reader, give me a few days to try to fix everything (meh, the furnace can wait...it's above zero. But the computer and teh tubes...NOOO!!!)

Congrats on the new blog. While I dont't believe in juju of any kind(my cousin's *creole* wife might debate me on this),the furnaces have a way of expiring in January, as mine did a few years ago.Probably more to do with senescence and workload than kismet, still it *feels* like bad juju....Be that as it may,I left you a comment during your recent exodus about Ornish as woo-enabler ("The War Has Begun..."),if not full-tilt Chopra blunderer.

Um, would you mind keeping the juju to yourself? I left NC with a dying hard drive on my laptop and got home to discover a bookshelf had detached itself from the wall to land on my desktop (which somehow still works). If I find that something's happened to the thumb drive where all my writing is backed up, we're going to have to have a little talk.

We're patient. Well, not really, but we like you, so we'll wait. :)
