So, it's come to this, in the latest version of the truth:

Wilco is good, sometimes exceptional, but often inconsequential.

Also, does google censor things like attempts at google bombing, or is there some algorhymicy reason why the piece dissappeared from the google cache the third day in? Apparently, according to their FAQs, they don't censor - at least not without an explanation.

It is Google's policy not to censor search results. However, in response to local laws, regulations, or policies, we may do so. When we remove search results for these reasons, we display a notice on our search results pages.

But it's just a bit wierd that server problems and now this google hiccup all occur on the same weekend. Of course, maybe this whole truth thing is just making me paranoid or something. There's a metaphor there somewhere.

In China, Google censors deliberately.

Elsewhere, it seems the giant net gorilla simply misplaces pages once in a while. Sometimes it even misplaces its own servers. (I believe it was Google.de that fell off the net recently because someone forgot to renew the domain name.)

A couple of pages that I manage disappeared from Google in December. I get conflicting reports from Google webmaster tools about whether they are or are not in the Big G's database. Go figure.

Perhaps these incidents demonstrate Truth #9?

I know that Google has just recently decided to crack down on Googlebombing, so if your ranking disappears again, don't be too surprised. They finally got tired of people thinking that when things got the number 1 rank 'cause of googlebombing, it was their opinion too.
