Preliminary Star Wars post and a funny video.

Lately, my kids have really gotten into the whole Star Wars thing, which, of course, brings me great pleasure. It also brings to mind a silly question: that is whether affinity for all things Star Wars is at all related to an affinity to all things science (ah Popper and Kuhn, where are ye now?).

Anyway, I'm wondering whether there is a tidy, clever, and easy internet device/poll/search algorithm we can use to chip away at this query. If you have any ideas, it would be great to pass them on.

In the meantime, here is a Star Wars related video that I think is very funny. Note some swearing involved.

Well that's just great. After squandering hours last week watching Eddie Izzard videos on the YouTube, now I get to re-watch 'em with Playskool(tm) animations! The Internet: is there anything it cannot do?

I was, for many years, a rabid SF fan. I found that most of my scientific colleagues had no use of SF; only a few were like me.

I think that it is possible to enjoy Star Wars as a fairy tale or heroic story; it's shaped like that type of narrative.
It may be a question of what parts of it you enjoy, and why.
As my son said after physics camp, "It was great, but we could have done it all without the physics."

=LOL= Priceless!
