We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo. How about you, you, you? You can come too, too, too. We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo.

i-9dc84d4d9156dccb30d5f62466b4219a-swblocks.jpgAs you may have already heard, ScienceBlogs is expecting to reach the 1 million comments mark sometime this month. And our generous overlords want to throw a party...actually several parties. They've encouraged ScienceBloggers to take their readers out for drinks, and the parties are happening all over the world.

To make matters even more exciting, I just happen to be visiting North Carolina the weekend of the big shindig there. Minnow and I will be catching up with my college roomie who has an adorable new baby, and I'll be investigating some potential research collaborations. But we're also super-excited that we'll get a chance to meet some Sciblings and hopefully some of you all.

North Carolina has the biggest ScienceBlogs contingent of anywhere and they're all coming out for a day of fun at the NC Zoo in Asheboro on Saturday, September 20th. Bora has the whole day planned out: starting with touring the exhibits (and maybe some behind the scenes peeks), some time with zoo scientists, and then beer and non-alcoholic drinks at a local restaurant. So far it looks like Abel Pharmboy, James Hrynyshyn, Sheril Kirshenbaum, Dave and Greta Munger, Scicurious, Kevin Zelnio and of course Bora Zivkovic will all be there. And the first round of drinks will be on the overlords.

There's more details to iron out, but if you're interested in joining us for a day at the zoo, or just drinks afterwards, send me an email and I'll make sure to keep you up to date.

Wow, that sounds like so much fun! Too bad I won't be even remotely close then... Have a great time!

*sigh* I'm around an 8 hour drive away.

That "Peter, Paul, and Mommy" album is one of my all-time favorities, not for myself, but for the effect it had on my nephews and nieces as children. Thank you for reminding me of it. Sorry I don't live in NC and can't come to your party, thanks for the invitation anyway.
