Regular show?

It's true that I don't have a lot of free time on my hands, but last nights UStream event with the crew was lots of fun. Isis and Arikia have been hosting a regular Friday night get-together on UStream, which is a total blast, but last night Isis couldn't tear herself away from her hot, hot science to host. As an experiment, I opened up a UStream channel and we happily chatted far to late into the evening.

And...the format is interesting. I can broadcast live video, and have a parallel text chat. This got me thinking. There are one or two online doctor shows (OK, only one that I know of...Dr Anonymous). He uses a call-in format. I'm thinking about having an occasional series where I'll broadcast and take questions, etc, via text. This is simply an embryonic idea, as I'm not sure I can find the time slot in my life, but it could be great fun, discussing medicine, health care, skepticism...we'll see.

More like this

Tomorrow (Wednesday), Bay Area Skeptics will be hosting the excellent Rebecca Watson for a Skeptics in the Pub Quiz. Watson is a founder of Skepchick, a host of the Skeptics Guide to the Universe, and a force for skepticism and sensibility in a world that is too frequently senseless. As a member…
Arikia Millikan, then-Intern at ScienceBlogs.com (now gainfully employed Ex-Intern), demonstrates her facility in liveblogging the comparison between two pinot noirs. So why has it taken me exactly 11 weeks to write this post? I think it's because once we post it, I have to let go of how awesome…
Just a few updates on the progress in the organization of ScienceOnline2010 to those of you who do not follow me (or scio10) on Twitter. The main event - the actual sessions of the conference - will be held, like last two years, in the beuatiful building of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research…
Each summer, the fair City of New York plays host to a cosmic convergence of bloggers within the ScienceBlogs.com corral. It's a great time to meet all the folks we know very well online, but perhaps not IRL. Moreover, we had a really nice reader meetup last year where - thank you very much - all…

Woo! Do it!
Although, 12am on Saturday mornings might not be the best regular schedule.

I like the idea a lot - I don't have the tech skillz of Doc Anon but the UStream/chat questions format works great. My local wine merchants do this to have virtual winetastings and we even futzed with it at the ScienceOnline'09 winetasting.

You've got a great voice and presence for this format and you can hold forth on a wide variety of topics, medical and otherwise. I'd participate for sure.

Youse science guys are gonna finally make me replace my screwy USB ports and get my headphones working again, aren't you?

It does sound like fun.

I haven't decided on any potential time yet. Friday sortta belongs to Dr Isis and @justarikia
