Insane Mayhem With Flower Delivery Truck

Here's a pretty far-out news item from Dagens Nyheter.

"A 58-year-old Dutchman had one ear and his nose bitten off by another man and a school had a power outage due to a brawl in Växjö on the morning of Thursday.

Shortly before three in the morning police were called to break up a fight in Växjö. They found two seriously wounded men and a long-haul truck full of flowers that had been driven straight into an electrical transformer station. Also, they found a severed ear and nose on the scene that were taken to the hospital and reattached to their owner.

Both men came to Växjö in the Dutch truck, one being its driver and the other a passenger. They had parked to sleep on the evening of Wednesday quite far from the transformer that they subsequently ran into. The collision caused a power outage for a nearby school and a sports centre.

The nose-challenged man has been interviewed by the police but has offered no explanation for the incident. The other man is still in intensive care with severe internal damage."

The bit I like the best is that the truck was loaded with flowers.

Update 9 March: Some answers have been forthcoming. Again according to Dagens Nyheter, the following seems to have happened.

  1. The two men sleep in the truck.
  2. The 58-y-o Dutch driver is woken by his 43-y-o passenger attacking him with murderous intent.
  3. The men fight, tumbling out of the truck onto the street, and the passenger bites off the driver's nose and ear.
  4. The driver flees and alerts the police.
  5. The passenger attempts to steal the truck but drives it straight into a transformer station.
  6. The passenger scales a high fire escape on a nearby sports centre, reaches the top and falls from it back to the ground, sustaining severe damage.
