An Incredible Gift

I have just received a surprising and surely too generous gift from a reader named Damon Katz. In appreciation for the work I do here, he has given me a $100 Amazon gift certificate, along with the admonition that I should use it for something fun rather than something intellectually related. It's an incredible kind gesture and it is very much appreciated. Most importantly, it's nice to know that my writing is viewed as worthwhile and important by my readers. Thank you so much, Damon.

Me and my friends went to see "The Good Shepard" Saturday night, a movie about the inception (and deception) of the CIA surrounding the Bay of Pigs invasion and Cold War.
Why is it that, in the universe of The Bourne Identity and sequels, Jason Bourne's girlfriends need to cut and dye their hair in order to go on the lam, but he makes no effort to disguise his appearance?
I'm in Berkeley right now at the annual Bio-Link Summer Fellows forum. We're getting to hear talks from people in the biotech industry, listen to enthusiastic instructors describe their biotech programs and ideas, and try out new educational materials.

You deserve it Ed,

I find your writing to be indespensible. I share the same basic world-view as you, so your work "feels good" to me. But you take it up a notch by treating all opinions with respect (to the extent that the holder's of those opinions earn that respect), and being objective enough to be truly educational.

Intellectually related not fun? Sacrilege!

Spend it on something fun, eh? Amazon sells Playboys, right? :D

And here I thought my undying admiration would be gift enough. But does that get its own post? Nooooo!
