An Incredible Gift

I have just received a surprising and surely too generous gift from a reader named Damon Katz. In appreciation for the work I do here, he has given me a $100 Amazon gift certificate, along with the admonition that I should use it for something fun rather than something intellectually related. It's an incredible kind gesture and it is very much appreciated. Most importantly, it's nice to know that my writing is viewed as worthwhile and important by my readers. Thank you so much, Damon.

Okay, I busted into the brisket that was included in the BBQ gift that my Texas reader sent me. I am not exaggerating when I say it was the best brisket I've ever had. David Katz doesn't much like skeptics, particularly those of us who question the value of "integrative medicine." In fairness, I can't say that I much blame him. We have been very critical of his writings and talks over the years to my criticism of his statement advocating a "more fluid concept of…
I took on the ScienceOnline09 anonymity panel because I thought it might be interesting, but the conversation that has developed has turned this into a much deeper issue than I had anticipated. I'm stepping into a big, brown pile of ethics here, and hopefully Janet won't make too much fun of me.…

You deserve it Ed,

I find your writing to be indespensible. I share the same basic world-view as you, so your work "feels good" to me. But you take it up a notch by treating all opinions with respect (to the extent that the holder's of those opinions earn that respect), and being objective enough to be truly educational.

Intellectually related not fun? Sacrilege!

Spend it on something fun, eh? Amazon sells Playboys, right? :D

And here I thought my undying admiration would be gift enough. But does that get its own post? Nooooo!
