Fantasy Football Nightmare

Just a short break from my usual subjects for a little whining. My fantasy football team is a keeper league, which means we can each keep up to 3 players from the last year's roster on our team for this year and everyone else goes back into the draft pool. I only kept one player this year and he happened to be the highest scoring player in all of fantasy football last year, Daunte Culpepper. And how bad has he been this year? In 2 games, he's thrown 8 interceptions and 0 touchdowns. Oh, and he also has 2 fumbles. In fact, in two games the Vikings offense has had a total of 24 offensive possessions; 12 of them resulted in a turnover, with 10 of those from Culpepper himself. He followed up his abysmal 49.2 QB rating in the first game with an even worse 36.4 in the second game. This is working out really well, isn't it?

Ed, I saw the highlights of the Vikings/Bengals game; I said a prayer for you.

Well i wish we could just play by halves. Matt Hasselbeck had a rating of something like an unbelievable 156.8 or something as calculated by Fox analysts in the first half, and then an "abysmal" 53.2 in the second. Not that i expected him to do all that well across the board, but i was thinking that Alexander's rushing would open the field more for Matt to have a fine season. That said, my choice of Oakland RB LaMont Jordan isn't panning out either. I am so happy i didn't get Randy Moss now too.

Yeah, the Vikes were disappointing. I didn't watch it though... Good thing I didn't. I've never liked Culpepper and this just adds to it.

I smell your pain. I picked 8th out of 12 this year and ended up with Jamal Lewis as the putative best running back remaining, who has since rushed for exactly 18 yards in 2 games.

You'd think a felon would run better.

I grew up in Cincinnati, so I should be a Bengals fan. I'm currently living in Boston (actually a western suburb) and expect that the Patriots will go all the way again.

The Red Sox are doing surprisingly well this year, too.

I'm in the same camp with Scott. Jamal is supposed to be my stud RB. Luckilaly I have Tiki, and Fred Taylor or elese I would be totlay F...ed

I feel your pain, especially as one of my fantasy teams got saddled with him.

Granted, I've got more than a few holes with all of my teams vis-a-vis starters, but I came pretty close to having a minor (?) attack of Ye Olde Apoplexy when I looked at Culpepper's stats from last Sunday and realized that Mike Tice didn't adjust squat in his offensive game plan after week one.

My buddy Terry Fernbach loved it, of course, since he's a Bengals fan - the bastard...
