Pat Robertson on Dover

If the Dover situation was a joke, this would be the punchline. Pat Robertson says that by voting out the pro-ID school board, the people of Dover have lost their protection from God:

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover. If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city. And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there."

Gee Pat, does that mean you won't be there to try and pray away a hurricane like you pretended to do in Virginia? Maybe you could call for the assassination of the new Dover school board president. What a despicable cretin. And remember....ID is not religious at all, it has nothing to do with Christianity or the religious right's agenda, nothing whatsoevr. It's just pure science from the word go. *eyeroll*

Update: Here's Pat's "clarification" of what he said:

Later Thursday, Robertson issued a statement saying he was simply trying to point out that "our spiritual actions have consequences."

"God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in his eye forever," Robertson said. "If they have future problems in Dover, I recommend they call on Charles Darwin. Maybe he can help them."

Well that explains it. Remember, ID is purely a scientific theory. It's nothing more than an inference of design drawn from observing the purposeful arrangement of parts. And if you don't believe that, God will send disasters to punish you. Blessed are the irreducibly complex, for they shall inherit the bunson burner.

More like this

Pat Robertson - another one of those who had better hope the god they claim to believe in does not exist. If it does, they are in big trouble when they have to explain their behavior. I hope I can watch that interview, or at least listen on hell's PBS station.

...if they begin. I'm not saying they will...

There's a man humbled by an erroneous meteor prophecy.

I wonder what his explanation will be for anything bad that happens anywhere in Kansas. Tornadoes, say.

Exgaywatch has a nice post about the Coral Ridge PCA church getting trashed in a hurricane--wonder what Pat Robertson thinks James Kennedy said to get God upset at him. Or if God just has bad aim when trying to wipe out the gays and evolutionists in Florida...

Robertson sort of kills the idea that ID is not just religious Creationism in a new set of clothes, doesn't he? With friends like this, the ID side may be totally screwed.

If the christian god existed, this man would have been swept up by some natural disaster a long time ago. I don't think god could put up with such idiocy.

If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God

Good advice, Pat.

Especially in light of Luke 13:
"1Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them--do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish." "

Bad things happen. Note, that he did not care that the "Christians" previously on the board were petty, liars and drug addicts.

Diamond Pat Robertson? I haven't watched the Weather Channel for a while, but I haven't seen that any hurricanes or tornadoes have been diverted to Dover.

Unlike the hurricane that was barreling down on Orlando a few years ago. Recall that Robertson claimed that that was in retribution for Gay Days at Disney World. At the last moment, the hurricane was diverted to Robertson's bunker in Virginia Beach.

I thought intelligent design was a scientific hypothesis? Then, even if we concede the question to Robertson and allow him that the voters are wrong and intelligent design is a viable theory, why should God deliver fire and brimstone and endless wrath for improperly rejecting a scientific theory?

It's almost as if Intelligent Design was some kind of religious dogma wrapped in scientific garb. But we know that can't be true, because ID proponents deny it, right?

Robertson is my proof that there is a sub-species of homo currently extant masquerading as sapiens.

Praise the Lord and move to Laredo
Cause if you're in Dover, here comes a tornado
