The Sports Guy's Readers

The only thing funnier than the Sports Guy may be the Sports Guy's readers, who have chipped in with a load of amusing questions in his latest mailbag. I love the way they draw connections between different aspects of popular culture with such accuracy. To wit, these two entries about Isiah Thomas:

As a Knicks fan, I'm dying here. The best parallel I can make with Isiah Thomas' tenure as GM is with Michael Jackson's nose. The more they try to correct the previous mistake, the worse it keeps getting.
-- Kevin, Brick, N.J.

and

With the Francis trade, has Isiah stolen the "laughably oblivious to how humorous the rest of the country finds him" mantle from Kevin Federline? Despite Isiah's on-court success, both guys owe their current stature soley to the benevolence of a misguided benefactor, yet both seem to honestly believe they actually bring something to the table. I wonder if they get together with James Woods' character from "Casino" every now and then for cocktails.
-- Mike, Chicago

Hilarious, especially the Federline reference. That video of him listening to "popo zau" and dancing with his hands absolutely shatters the unintentional comedy scale. Here's a link to the video. Don't drink anything during it.

In one of the craziest drafts I've ever seen, the craziest move of the night belonged to - who else? - Isiah Thomas. I've given the numbers before to demonstrate Thomas' world class incompetence as an executive, but let's recap: 3 years ago he took over a 35 win team that was $40 million over the…
Fall is my favorite time of the year. Part of it is the weather, part of it is the smell and the crispness of the air, and part of it is that basketball is starting again. Midnight madness, the official kickoff for the college basketball preseason, is this weekend, and the NBA is going through its…
Isiah Thomas, intent on breaking the all-time record for stupidity by an NBA general manager (currently a tie between Chris Wallace, Scott Layden and the whiz kid who put together the Trail Blazers from 2000 on), has just made a trade to acquire Steve Francis from the Orlando Magic. This gives them…
Okay, time for a basketball break. First and foremost, leave this page immediately, go read the Sports Guy's draft diary, and remind yourself why this guy is the best sportswriter on the planet today. This exchange alone cements his status: 9:33 -- Utah takes 7-foot-5 Pavel Prdzswsbqzpdne, who…

Does anyone know what Simmons' e-mail address is? I've looked in his Page 2 section but I can't find it.
