Harrassing Those Poor White Supremacists

Found this via Volokh. A white supremacist family that includes the singing duo Prussian Blue has moved from Bakersfield, California to Great Falls, Montana because Bakersfield wasn't "white enough" for them. When their new neighbors found out who they were, they handed out flyers around town with the message "No Hate Here" on them. The family complained to the police, saying this was harrassment. The police explained that the neighbors were just exercising their free speech, much like that family exercises theirs to preach hate. Touche. I thought the flyers were rather well devised:

"This letter is not written as a means to harass the family or to begin a witch hunt," the flier said. "We wish the family no harm. Our goal is to peacefully communicate that this kind of hate and ignorance will not be accepted here in our neighborhood where we live and raise our families."

Seems fair to me.

Since I was still recovering from TAM9 last night and crashed on the couch at around 9 PM, I didn't have time for one of my usual logorrheic posts. I did, however, have time to take note of an update on a story I started covering six years ago. One of the greatest things about having a long running…
On Wednesday, in response to really bad analogy attacking the NAACP and the Black and Hispanic Congressional Caucuses, I wrote a rather lengthy post that attempted to educate the rather clueless blogger by the name of LaShawn Barber who had produced the rant about how the white nationalist teen…
Hoo boy. Via The Poorman Institute and an anti-Holocaust denial mailing list that I belong to, I've learned of an analogy so breathtakingly bad that I have a hard time not blogging about it, mainly because it relates to a topic that I'm very interested in (Holocaust denial) and a related topic that…

The girls' heroes are reported to include Powder, Frosty the Snowman, Danger Mouse and that monk from The Da Vinci Code.

Hey! Don't you denigrate Powder! I loved that movie! It has a cool powder-blue guy with super powers, and people picked on him because of his skin color. It was a tale promoting brotherhood and acceptance. That's totally antithetical to what the parents tell those girls they stand for.

Powder? As in that movie where the kid who was electrocuted as a baby eventually absorbed lightning and 'evovled' into a being of 'pure energy' ??

They're kinda' cute in an Aryan sort of way, but they have to be the worst singers on the face of the planet. And you'd think there would be at least one clip on YouTube of them singing "Tomorrow Belongs to Me." Major oversight.

I have no sympathy for racist views, but I do wonder how to interpret this:

this kind of hate and ignorance will not be accepted

What does that mean? What specific actions might the people of the town take to back this up, other than exercising their own rights to free speech?

I was joking. ;-) If the girls had been blue nationalists I would've said their heroes are Cookie Monster, Papa Smurf and Blue's Clues.

I saw a documentary on the Prussian Blue duo a few weeks back. One of the most disgusting and sad things I have ever seen. Those poor kids (I think I can still say that because of their age and I'm torn whether they're responsible for their own actions yet) have been brainwashed to the point I don't think they can ever return.

Just check this small report on these two aired on abc. It's nauseating.
