Hit by a blog meme

A blog meme has just landed on my head, like a deposit from a flu infected migratory bird (affirmative answer to the question, "Do you have any grey poop on?"). It got dumped on me by my Flu Wiki partner, Melanie Mattson, maestra of the acclaimed Just a Bump in the Beltway blog. I tagged her about two months ago and this is payback. If you don't know, a blog meme is a task set by one blogger on one or more others, to proceed chain fashion until everyone is exhausted or bored or both.

This one should have been easy: set down eight random things about yourself. But it's a bit harder if there are more than one of you. Here are four different answers, divided by different Paul Revere identities.

1. I am a proficient copper engraver

2. I was born on New Year's Day (1735). I guess I could add that I'm dead, but that would be three things, and it's sort of a depressing characteristic

3. I am also a rock band, very popular in the 1960s (see next random fact)

4. My band, Paul Revere and the Raiders, started out in Boise, Idaho

5. I am the name of a Pizza Franchise, Paul Revere's Pizza International, Ltd.

6. The "international" part is indeed Limited as there are only franchises in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin

7. I am the pseudonym of one or more bloggers at this site

8. The Reveres at Effect Measure are actually just mechanisms for turning coffee into blog posts (apologies to P. Erdös)

I'm not tagging anyone this time. Enough people hate me.

Holy shit! Melanie of Just a Bump in the Beltway tags me with the Random Eight meme and no sooner do I get it done (incurring her wrath because I didn't pass it on), when I learn that as a ScienceBlogs newcomer we also got tagged with the pi meme by Janet (Dr. Free-Ride). It could be a lot worse.…
Arghhh! I hate blog memes, but rules are rules. As Robert Service said, "a promise made is a debt unpaid, and the trail has its own stern code," and although I'm not sure how that applies, I'm forced to respond. From Abel over at TerraSig comes a random blog meme...literally. For the uninitiated…
The blogger who I thought among all held the greatest disdain for any of these silly little narcissistic blogger games, Comrade PhysioProf, has tagged me with a meme. 1. Link to the person who tagged you. 2. Post the rules on your blog. 3. Write six random things about yourself. 4. Tag six people…
So, I see Janet started a "get to know you" post (with a "pi" theme). I'm busy today and was swamped all weekend (and as such, don't have any more lengthy science posts finished), so...answers below the fold. 3 reasons you blog about science: 1. Because I'm a really big nerd, and all things…

Melanie: I've been waiting years to use that joke. Couldn't resist.
