As regular readers know, Albert Einstein was my culture hero when I was a youth (and he still is, although I am no longer a youth). But it's all relative.). Anyway, today is the 130th anniversary of his birth. To celebrate, here's another peek at what's happening in the world of robotics (see here for a previous foray into the world of robots). This one has an Einstein theme:

Today is Einstein's birthday. If he were still alive he'd be 131. Those of you who have been reading here for a long time know that Einstein was (and is) one of my "culture heroes." When I was a kid I sent him birthday cards (yes, I'm that old) and when he died made a scrap book filled with news…
I must confess to being pleasantly surprised by the amount of attention Charles Darwin is drawing on this, the 200th anniversary of his birth. And although anything I contribute is almost certain to be redundant, I feel obliged to chime in. So:

Happy birthday to your idol revere. At first I found this robot creepy but then I thought about Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I am a hopeless Science Fiction fan thanks to my college English teacher Sally Farris. She died several years ago from ovarian cancer however, she taught her class using Science Fiction stories. It was exhilarating and she was a trooper during her last moments.
And yes, the above mentioned series is on Fox (sigh). All you have to do is read a book or two about the owner of News Corp. (Fox) and anyone with half a brain begins to see what an idiot he is. (I'll stop there).
Thanks, Lea, for acknowledging your English teacher, Sally Farris, and keeping alive her memory. Sally was an instructor at the college where I work, and people still talk about her fondly.
