Turtle Yoga Chaos!
Image: Bob Levy, author of Club George [larger].
The photographer, Bob Levy, writes;
Ah, how satisfying it was to find that a Central Park turtle rose, or at least lifted its head, to the occasion. Just when they needed it the most a Turtle Yoga master rose from the ranks to bring order out of chaos. Here we see the group under the tutelage of a natural educator artfully performing a cat stretch.
Doesn't this satisfy your need for a moment of Zen?

This horse's colors and patterning was no doubt inspired by Vincent van Gogh's masterpiece, The Starry Night (Dutch: De sterrennacht), which is one of my favorite paintings. The original painting can be viewed at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) located…

This lovely horse artwork stands on the sidewalk on the western side of the American Museum of Natural History and is apparently part of the museum's special exhibit, "The Horse".
I like this side better, but unfortunately, the light does not show the colors and patterns…

Turtle Yoga Chaos!
Image: Bob Levy, author of Club George [larger].
The photographer, Bob Levy, writes;
This image captures a group of unfortunate Central Park turtles sorely in need of a yoga master. The chaos, as the Great Oz once said is," The result of disorganized thinking." Finding such a chaotic demonstration of yoga art shocked this observer who has grown used to watching turtles execute poses with precision and grace. Will a yoga master arise to lead the others and bring order to the class and the universe or at…

Birds in Science
Surface tension can be a wonderful thing. It helps some insects walk on water. It allows the dappling of raindrops on the hood of a car. And, a new study in Science shows, it enables certain birds to eat. Like many birds, phalaropes, small shorebirds with long, thin beaks, feed by pecking, but phalaropes peck at water, capturing droplets, on the order of a tenth of an inch in diameter, which can contain tiny crustaceans or…

There are so many reasons to love NYC, and surely, the best reason is the street fairs that occur all over Manhattan during the summer. Street fair "season" in NYC runs between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend. Street fairs occupy huge stretches of the surface streets in Manhattan on either a Saturday or Sunday between the hours of 9am and 6pm. This street fair, for example, occupies the downtown-bound lanes of Broadway between West 72nd and West 86th streets. Every weekend and holiday day has at least one…

You do not have to be a photography expert to notice that the only thing in focus in this image is the green mesh in the foreground and even then you might have to enlarge it to see that it is so. To appreciate why I relish this photo a detailed explanation is necessary. Of course that might be said about many of my other images too but none more so than this one: at least so far.

This story should be placed into the "what the hell is wrong with people" category, but alas, it doesn't exist. Tragically, it turns out that one of the teenaged actors who is a character in the sixth Harry Potter film was stabbed to death this morning in front of a bar in Sidcup…

This parrot's scientific name means "song parrot with wavy lines" and its aboriginal name was close to "budgerigar" meaning "good eating" -- they consumed these small parrots as snacks!
