Okay, now I'm worried. I spent way too much time playing with that. Curse you, Orac, for knowing a geeks one weakness--odd toys.
They play follow the leader, but the behavior is a little more complex than that, since the shape of the endless chain of roaches will change over time to get rid of small loops and the like. I can't figure out what other simple behavioral trait would make the shape of the path change.

Sometimes if you pull the roaches into corners, little gaps in the line open up. I think they seem more worried.
