Here's another post to highlight a worthy proposal with a good science connection. "Little Scientists" is looking to bring marine habitats to pre-kindergarten students in Buffalo:
Animals and life sciences are of particular interest to young children, so we try to discover a lot about animals and habitats. We are also very lucky to have a partnership with the local science museum and students get a chance to visit at least once a year.
I am requesting science materials that will be housed in our classroom and not in the museum. For example, I would like my students to be able to handle books about sea animals, look at models of sea animals and touch safe specimens of sea animals.
These items are difficult to acquire for a classroom library, yet they greatly enhance understanding for students who learn best through hands-on experiences.
This is a high poverty urban district, and a chance to help get students interested in science at a very early age. They're looking for $1,022, which would get us halfway to the goal for the Uncertain Principles challenge. And, of course, if you don't like pre-K children or marine animals, there are many other fine proposals in need of funding...
