Just to show that I have way too much time on my hands, I went last night and collected the best science themed music videos that I could find on YouTube. Feel free to suggest more if I missed some.
1) Weird Science by Oingo Boingo...classic...so classic...
I don't think I had ever seen this video; I've seen the movie, just not the video. Seems like they filmed it in some strange sweat shop with huge rotating gears pushed by women with feathered hair -- all very scientific. In fact, my lab looks exactly like that. And don't forget the mannequins. No science can be conducted without mannequins.
Also, all scientists everywhere wear wife-beaters underneath their lab coats to work...and eye shadow...lots and lots of eye shadow.
Oh, 80s. Why do you amuse me so?
2) She Blinded Me with Science by Thomas Dolby...
Other than the fact that there is an old man shouting "science" in the background repeatedly, I have never been able to figure out what about this video actually relates to science.
(See if you can find the seen where he is playing violin on the Asian woman's back. Where do they even come up with this stuff?)
3) Scientist by The Dandy Warhols...
This video convinces me that somewhere there is a producer who said, "Well I bought this computer graphics machine, and by God I am going to use it!"
With all the split screen, you'd think this was an episode of 24 or the original Thomas Crowne Affair.
Incidentally, doesn't that woman kind of look like Keira Knightley?
Anyway, enough obscure popculture references for one day. If you have some more ideas for music videos, let me know. Someday, I will collect them all. Muahaha!

The old man in the video is Magnus Pyke, star of the 1970s popular science BBC show "Don't Ask Me".
I mentioned it before...
Thanks for the videos! You spurred me to search YouTube for more Oingo Boingo. Sadly, no video for "Only A Lad" there (did they even make one?), but the video for "Little Girls" is hilarious, brutal satire.
I was parking my car today when a clerk came out of a retail store and threw a damaged mannequin in a dumpster. I'm ashamed to admit I was too embarassed to steal it. Science is nothing without mannequins.
You saw this one coming Jake : ) ... Guided by Voices's I Am A Scientist...
Coldplay's "The Scientist"
