We're having a cold snap. About -2 oC, and very still. Possible snow later.
Punt touts are still out though.
Ducks don't care.
I've never known what this means.

Interesting post on this over at James Empty Blog. So: Weitzmans basic thesis is: the PDF of the climate sensitivity has a long fat tail; the cost diminishes less quickly; so the "expected utility", which is the integral of the two, is divergent. This has echoes of mt's arguments, which he has been…
Did you notice that RC called it "Meinshausen et al"? Barbarians :-). Anyway, they liked the paper whilst I'm less sure. As far as I can tell its not really a question of science in dispute, just what you make of it. So what M et al. do is instead of the std.ipcc "force a GCM with CO2 and see how…
Andy Skuce has an SKS article (with which I largely agree) disagreeing with a previous article that Myles Allen wrote for the Mail in May 2013. And now MA has an article in the Graun saying similar things. At Wotts, Rachel has an article approving of MA's piece; Wotts himself seems rather more…
As I mentioned yesterday, I'm at the American Association for Cancer Research meeting imbibing the latest and greatest that science-based medicine has to offer against cancer. The AACR is mainly a basic science and translational meeting; so a lot of this stuff is seriously preclinical. That's what…
I received my first mortgage loans when I was 25 and this aided my relatives very much. However, I require the consolidation loans as well.
For what it's worth, "poshu" appears to be Hindi for "animal."
Those people on the punt look grimly stoic. Great photos.
We are at 61 degrees F (16C) here in Newport Oregon. Its sunny and no breeze. Almost a spring day. I hope you get to make a snowman.
Nice photos.
This evening in Calgary it's -1 at present, however that is not cold for this time of year. This winter has been mostly warmer than usual, with highs above 0 much of the time. It's also so dry there was a grass fire today in an open area.
3.2.2012 -24C, now -12C, at this rate spring starts in 5 days ;-)
[Keep extrapolating -W]
Not that warm up north of you in Portland (11C) but it's sunny with one of our notorious east winds through the Columbia Gorge making us colder than the coast.
What on is going on with those two at the front? Secret mutual fumblings or Mr Uncertain-of-his-sexuality has a panic attack when knees collide?
Ducks in this Cambridge seem puzzled the Charles river has yet to freeze for the first time in decades.
Russell, the Charles did freeze (at least down near MIT) for 1-2 days in January.
-2C? A new Ice age is upon us!!!!!!!
No, wait, here in central Scotland it is above freezing and rather dull. No snow except on high ground. Give us our weather back you thieving southerners.
[Oh dear. Our rowing club Men's Captain has headed North in search of Ice Climbing -W]
Nice looking ducks but I notice they are not in the water.
"Ducks don't care. I've never known what this means."
Ducks average very low on measures of socialization or empathy. A vast majority of ducks are narcissistic sociopaths. (c.f. Duckman, Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck, etc.)
Since when was -2C a cold spell?
[Since GW ;-? But the river doesn't freeze often -W]
