From the American Family Association:
- Amnesty for 12,000,000 illegal immigrants.
- A push to make homosexual marriage and polygamy legal in all 50 states.
- Only liberal judges will be appointed. They will create laws to implement the social agenda liberals cannot get passed through the legislative process.
- Liberals will make the killing of the unborn more difficult to stop.
- Liberals will continue to try to rid our society of Christian influence, including any reference to God in our Pledge and on our currency.
- A return to the "Fairness Doctrine" in broadcasting where opposing views must be given equal time. Every conservative talk show host will be forced to give a liberal equal time on every issue. The purpose of this rule will be to shut down conservative talk shows.
- An increase in taxes to push new social programs.
- Passing a new "hate crimes" law making it illegal to refer to homosexuality in a negative manner.
- Liberals will give terrorists from other countries who try to kill Americans the same rights American citizens enjoy under our constitution.
- We will withdraw from Iraq, sending the message to the terrorists that if they will just be patient they can win and bring their terrorist acts to the U.S.
Damn, they've found us out.

CBS is reporting that ex-Senator Rick Santorum (who lost his Pennsylvania seat in 2006 with 41% of the vote) has entered the running for 2012 along with the likes of Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee. All of them are staunch right-wing fundamentalist Christians who have advocated changing the…
Yet another reader sent me a great bad math link. (Keep 'em coming guys!) This one is an astonishingly nasty slight of hand, and a great example of how people misuse statistics to support a political agenda. It's by someone

At the Inaugural ceremonies, the opening invocation will be given by Rick Warren, evangelical author of The Purpose-Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For? and all-around wanker.

My thanks to Ed Darrell for pointing me to an article by Peter Gomes in the Boston Globe. Gomes is the Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and minister of the Memorial Church at Harvard. Of the recent court cases involving gay marriage, he writes:

I think their biggest worry is if, I mean WHEN we make it illegal to be an idiot. They should be afraid. Very, very afraid...
And their point is ?
What?
No mention of mandatory fisting classes for kindergarteners?
No mention of outlawing Christmas?
No mention of confiscation of Bibles?
Not even one mention of bestiality?
Their losing their touch.
Quite a combination of (mostly) ridiculous straw men (that are, unfortunately, believed) with a few things that are in fact part of the "liberal agenda."
The fact that homosexual marriage is perhaps not scary enough is revealing in that they feel the need to directly associate it with polygamy.... I'm not aware of anybody realistically talking about the latter, and alas even the Democrats by and large aren't supporting the former. (I know that the Deomcratic candidate for the Senate in my state -- touted as a key race -- is opposed to homosexual marriage.)
The other one:
Liberals will give terrorists from other countries who try to kill Americans the same rights American citizens enjoy under our constitution.
I seem to remeber reading in one of our founding documents the principle that "all men are created equal." If we really believe that... then shouldn't suspects worldwide be given the same rights? I mean, we've got homegrown terrorists (Timothy McVeigh) and other random murderers and criminals, and yet we have a whole host of rights to protect them, but more significantly to protect the innocent from false accusations. So what's so bad about taking the same approach to everybody? But, of course, the real objection "liberals" (by which I think they mean anybody who isn't a Bush-loving extreme fundamentalist) have is that American citziens no longer have the rights that they're supposed to have; if the president asserts that they are suspected of terrorism, then their rights that they were supposed to have as American citizens all go away. Too bad that objection to that is framed as "giving terrorists rights."

The most common form of polygamy in the U.S. is the plural marriage system of "Fundamentalist Mormon" sects, which aren't exactly bastions of liberal thinking. (Yeah, I can just see the entire FLDS population of Colorado City, AZ voting for Hillary Clinton ....)
Politics makes bedfellows strange.
And impeachment. Wasn't that a big boogie a few months ago? Have they become so disillusioned with Bush that saving him is no longer a valid call to arms?
The list is remarkably toned down from what I expected to see on some subjects. Don't they believe that abortion and homosexual marriage will be mandated by law?
On another note, it's interesting that they've never understood the concept of "alleged" terrorists having the right to defend themselves in court.
If all of those things happen, then isn't it God's will? I mean, He meddles in everything. Anyway, that's what I hear.
That's a bold list, I almost consider it libel to suggest liberals are coordinated enough in this country to accomplish one of those.
from Gerry L:
Obviously, if they were innocent they would not have been arrested in the first place--so if you're not guilty of anything (including anything we might consider a sin), you have nothing to fear.
No mention of rooting out paedophile pastors?
