As a biologist, and an expectant father, (in no particular order) I mourn the loss of any large marsupial. Whether known as the "thylacine" or "Tasmanian wolf" is insignificant; we'd lost yet another part of our planetary biological heritage. Let us not forget the memory of the loss of one of the largest and most emotive of the marsupials, albeit 71 years later.
