Fascists ... of all denominations

PZ says something good in agreement with a post by Brian Leiter:

I’d suggest that the Christo-Fascists have done far more damage to our country than any Islamo-Fascist -- after all, the Islamic hordes haven’t been responsible for stripping away our civil liberties, nor did they force us to spend trillions on a fool’s war, nor did they turn Jesus into Mammon, nor did they replace education and science with ignorance and piety.

Truth be told, we do have less to fear from Bin Laden than from Bush and his cronies. But I will add that not all Christians are "Christo-Fascists."

David Horowitz (you all remember him, right? Deranged anti-intellectual wanker?) He has declared 22-26 October to be Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, to be represented with talks by such towering intellects as Rick Santorum, Ann Coulter, and Sean Hannity. Brian Leiter has a complementary suggestion:…
I was on a panel discussion of "Confrontation vs. Accommodation" yesterday at the Secular Humanism conference. It wasn't an entirely satisfactory format; there were four of us (Chris Mooney, Eugenie Scott, Victor Stenger, and me), and we each gave a short spiel and then answered questions. There…
What's the US's largest Protestant denomination? The Southern Baptist Convention. If you want to make a bigoted remark about Islam or atheism, where do you go to do it? The Southern Baptist Convention. Comments about Islam have generated controversy at past Southern Baptist meetings. In 2002, a…
This is really weird timing. I'd love to know what really prompted this. Bush has been adamant that Rumsfeld would not be going anywhere, and you know that "resigned" means "forced out." He's certainly not leaving on intelligent grounds, like on the basis of his utter failure; if that was the case…

I don't have a concise label for Christians who have constructive values toward society; helping the poor, avoiding wars, science-based science education, etc. But that group does have a problem on its hands when you look at the budgets of organizations like "Focus On The Family" and its related hate fellowships. The former have allowed the latter to walk off with the reputation of Christianity in this country and even around the world.

All Christians are Christo-Fascists. You've got to seriously have a screw loose if you believe in some old guy with a white beard in the sky. Silly dead-man-on-a-stick cultists!
