This station was recently renovated with a "retro look" makeover, complete with new plaques and tablets in the original 1904 Heins-LaFarge style. The new plaques are made of faïence and look like restorations of original work (but they are not; Lincoln Center did not exist in 1904!). Yesterday, I had plenty of errands to keep me busy because the birds were out of food and I had a mountain of mail to send and an even bigger mountain of mail to retrieve. So I took my camera and got a few pictures while I took care of business. I thought this picture was especially nice. Incidentally, I was unable to get out today because the building super and his assistant were fixing the holes in my trashed bathroom. I am excited…

Yesterday, it was quite cold and breezy in NYC, but the conditions were superb for photographing the city, especially in the afternoon, when I captured some lovely images of Lincoln Center skyscrapers illuminated by the dying sun. This is my favorite of the three "Glass and Sky" images I am sharing with you here. I especially like it because of the contrasting colors of the buildings and their placement in the image…

tags: photography, Lincoln Center, NYC, NYCLife Three days ago, NYC was encased in clouds after an all-night rainstorm. Being a native of Seattle, I found this to be very beautiful and reminiscent of my other home 3,000 miles away. City in the Clouds #1, Lincoln Center, NYC. Image: GrrlScientist 2008 [wallpaper size].
