Atheism and CNN - an update

PZ Myers reports (and the report is confirmed on both CNN's and Richard Dawkins' websites) that tonights episode (Thursday, 8 Feb, 8pm Eastern) of Paula Zahn Now will revisit the story of the atheists, and replace the uninformed panel discussion with an interview of Richard Dawkins. As much as I'd love to think that this is due to my call for a boycott (and the dozen or two responses that it's already accumulated), the real credit for this one goes to others. In particular, credit is do to PZ for spreading the news - his post on the original story was widely linked to, and widely read - and even more credit goes to the hordes of screaming godless who have apparently emailed CNN complaining about the story.

Update: It appears that CNN will be re-airing the story at 8 pm Eastern tonight (Thursday, 8 Feb). The original panel will be replaced by an interview with Richard Dawkins. A recent CNN story on atheism has sparked a great deal of outrage from the online atheist community. The story, which was…
That wretched excuse to bash atheists on the Paula Zahn program that I criticized must have generated some intense and voluminous correspondence, because right now they're scrambling to do damage control. I just got word from Richard Dawkins that they are going to repeat the lead segment (the part…
Really, I don't read Debbie Schlussel's blog—a reader sent me a link, so I put on the waders and gas mask and climbed down into the sewer. I'm now completely baffled; why is this insane and deeply stupid person ever put on television? Her response to the CNN complaints is illustrative, and even if…
OK, here's the latest word on tonight's show on atheists with Paula Zahn: there will be a different version of the previous report on ostracized atheists. Dawkins' interview will be four minutes long. There will also be a panel with Niger Innis (a conservative Republican), Roland Martin (a…

I just realized the interesting parralel(s) between the treatment of atheists by mainstream media and the Geico Caveman commmercials... "Yeah. Well Paula, I would have the roast duck, with mango salso, but I just lost my appetite". Good thing that at least Dawkins has a better-looking image.

I just sent them the following:

I don't get it. First you have a panel on atheism that doesn't include any atheists. Now you've decided to talk to a few atheists, but all you can talk to are British atheists? Is it really that hard to find American atheists to talk to, or aren't you even really trying?

according to the dawkins web site, the piece has been postponed until friday.

Now scheduled for Monday at 8 ET
