Inhumanity in the Colorado State Senate: Words Simply Fail

Remember that Colorado State Senator I talked about yesterday? The one that voted against the HIV testing bill because he thought it would encourage humanity? It turns out that he really, really doesn't know when to stop talking. He gave an interview to the Rocky Mountain News after the vote. Reading the things he said, I'm well and truly past appalled. This man, who currently holds elected political office, clearly does not understand the concept of what it means to be a human being.

What he said afterward:

"What I'm hoping is that yes, that person may have AIDS, have it seriously as a baby and when they grow up, but the mother will begin to feel guilt as a result of that.

"The family will see the negative consequences of that promiscuity and it may make a number of people over the coming years begin to realize that there are negative consequences and maybe they should adjust their behavior.

"We can't keep people from being raped. We can't keep people from shooting each other. We can't keep people from jumping off bridges. There are a lot of things we can't do that have negative consequences in our society. People drink and drive and they crash and kill people. Poor behavior has its consequences."

When I read his statements yesterday, I hoped that he just hadn't considered that the proposed HIV testing would help the children. It had not entered my mind - not even remotely - that this creature might actually think that having the kids get HIV would actually be some sort of benefit.

If this man is not evil, I don't know what evil could possibly look like.

I'm going to take a break from my semi-masochistic browsing of Conservapedia tonight. Instead, I'd like to take this opportunity to highlight some much more malignant views. There have been two separate incidents of hateful speech and behavior, involving two separate Colorado State Senators, in…
Yesterday I was reading an article about anti-gay protests at a gay pride parade. One of the protestors was holding a large sign that said, "Got AIDS yet?"; another had one that said "AIDS: Kills Fags Dead". My first thought was that it's too bad there isn't a disease that afflicts the ignorant and…
If there's one thing antivaccinationists hate having pointed out to them, it's that they are antivaccine. If you really want to drive an antivaccinationist up the wall, point out that they are antivaccine. Sure, there are a few antivaccinationists who openly self-identify as antivaccine and are…
Im glad none of you accused me of joking or exaggerating when I told this story: A *very* common exchange I have with the general public regarding HIV-1: Person-- Where did HIV-1 come from? Me-- HIV-1 is related to a virus we can find in African primates, SIV. SIV crossed over from chimpanzees to…

Fucking monster. I should never have to hate a fellow human being as much as I hate him. But the truth is that he isn't even human. As I said before: if this fucking pig dies tomorrow from a heart attack, I will celebrate. I'll believe in miracles again. And I'll buy a ticket to fly to Colorado just to piss on this monster's grave and deface his gravestone.

I hope he gets killed by a drunk driver.

I'll see that bet and raise you - it's probably an affair with a gay prostitute.

I feel sorry for the prostitute. I honestly do.

As far as God is concerned, the absolute tippy-top most important thing in the whole universe is that people put their penises only into approved orifices. He sees all and knows all, and the things that some people get up to just leave him flabbergasted with shock.

If some babies die of aids, or syphillis, or whatever, then - provided that helps drive home the point that only approved orifices are to be used - that's perfectly ok.

Well, by his reasoning, we should stop arresting drunk drivers. After all, the more people killed by drunk drivers, the more people will be bereaved and will adjust their behavior accordingly.
There's a certain logic there. A repulsive, evil, psychopathic logic.

Hey, that crowd sees children as a woman's punishment for slutty behavior. This jerk is just raising the stakes by making those punishment-offspring HIV positive.

This is a good place to try some empathy, but he seems to have misplaced his.

You people really need to tone it down. After all, it's just a difference of opinion, and I'm sure he really thinks he's acting and speaking in the best interests of all people: men, women, and children. Besides, what's the point of arguing with him?

So, Jesus believed that actions such as sex out of wedlock need to have consequences, for the good of society? That explains why he was so in favor of stoning that woman who was caught doing that, then...

Physioprof, sarcasm aside it is distinct from the situations we were discussing earlier for a variety of reasons: First the problem here is much more extreme than what we were discussing earlier. Second of all, this is a problem with an individual, not generalized to the group as a whole.

This guy is a real piece of work. This latest sorry episode tops an incident last week when he was on a local right wing radio where Colorado house representative Diana DeGette was continually referred to as "Vagina" DeGette (http://colorado.mediamatters.org/items/200902190002)with all of the associated Beavis and Butthead giggles. Misogyny seems pretty everyday for this loser.

Physioprof, sarcasm aside it is distinct from the situations we were discussing earlier for a variety of reasons: First the problem here is much more extreme than what we were discussing earlier. Second of all, this is a problem with an individual, not generalized to the group as a whole.

Dude, do you really believe your own bullshit?

First, "the problem here" is not more extreme. It's just that this dude let loose a little more freely with what he really believes.

Second, this kind of sick fuck is all that is left of the Republican Party, other than a handful of corporate fascists and other oligarchs (although most of them have fled to the Democratic Party). The idea that this is just one lone loony at odds with the core beliefs of the Republican Party is a complete fucking lie.

Your apologetics for the Republican Party are disgusting. It's exactly because of rational-seeming "moderate" people like yourself that the depraved "conservative" core of the Republican Party has had free rein over the last 40 years to destroy everything the decent people care about. It makes me sick that you continue either lying or bullshitting yourself as the country swirls down the fucking shitter.

I'm not sure how you people missed it the first time. Maybe I'm just so used to dealing with fuckheads like him that I can second guess, or maybe I have some sort of dark ability that allows me to know how that twisted brain of theirs works. However it works, I pretty much got from the last one that this man was a monster, and that HIV is somehow good for the children in this sick fuck's mind. He just made it more plain in this time. It doesn't change my opinion any, though. He's still a pig-fucking degenerate beast, who's death from a heart attack or a car accident would be heralded not only as a miracle but proof beyond doubt that God exists by yours truly.

"You people" is too disingenuous and broad. Let me try this again and apologize for using that broad phrase: "I'm not sure how *those of you who defended him last time* missed it."

There. That's better.

No, it's not better.

"Defended" is really disingenuous. PhysioProf use the right word: "apologetics." So the "you people" comment I corrected above I correct again to direct at his apologists from the last post, which I think would be the right word I'm looking for.

Anyway, This what I get when I post angry. I apologize *again*

Well, by his reasoning, we should stop arresting drunk drivers. After all, the more people killed by drunk drivers, the more people will be bereaved and will adjust their behavior accordingly.

Precisely. In fact, there should be no penalties for any evil acts. The guilt will be punishment enough.

"Morality" defined by religion is evil. No exceptions. no excuses.

@ Comrade: It's not just an opinion, it's what he's saying in a public forum in his capacity as a representative of the people. That's not an appropriate setting in which to voice one's personal opinions, particularly opinions which are not shared by the majority of the people he represents, and which are potentially harmful to others.
