That's because during the WW II era the Christo-Fascisti hadn't yet captured the government.

Not to mention the military brass. They knew what STDs could do to their troops and more to the point, they knew how to prevent it.

...and, of course, they were targeted at the (presumably) 18-and-up enlisted troops.

On the other hand, I wonder what the reaction would be to someone deciding to re-run these historical ads on modern billboards?

Actually the STD's prevelant then were, for the most part, prevented by a condom, while the most common ones today (HPV, Herpes,) are not. So the poster was accurate then, but would be misleading now.
