The Chicago Marathon has been the site of phenomenal performances, but Sunday's run produced perhaps the tightest men's finish ever. Video here.
Not to be outdone, the women's finish was equally eye-opening and presents a valuable lesson to anyone involved in competitive sport. Video here.
In spite of the flat, fast course, the times were comparatively slow due to the brutally warm and humid weather. Unfortunately, one runner died during the event.

Wow -- both finishes were astonishing!
What did you think of the NYT headline about the race?
Death, Havoc and Heat Mar Chicago Race
A bit over the top, eh? It makes it sound like it was run in Iraq.
All in can say is that people need to respect the distance and understand that race day conditions may differ considerably from their typical training day weather. If you train to "just finish" a marathon, bad weather will swallow you whole.
Wait, you mean you're supposed to race a marathon....
Wow. Thanks for the link Jim. I'd put the women's finish up there with my all time favorite sports highlights.
