Friday Fractal XLV

Words cannot quite describe this fractal piece, which is abstract, yet seemingly (and sensually) familiar. As any of my regular readers will know, it isn't too hard for me to find fractals which subtly imitate natural forms. Still, it was quite a surprise to find these anthropomorphic forms lurking in the set. The flesh-like curves appeared as I was feeling around a vortex Julia set, using 3D fractal Brownian motion as a coloring formula. Originally, I was trying to find something that looked like a feather or a leaf. (When I first saw the body, I had it colored green. Talk about abstract.) Should I have been that surprised? The curves of human flesh are as natural as the colorful plumage of a bird, the intricate patterns on the surface of a leaf, or waves on the ocean.

I'm not going to include a "matching" photograph this time, because this isn't that kind of a blog. You'll have to be content with your imagination. If you would like a larger version of either of the above images, please send an email request to karmen(at)chaoticutopia.com. All fractals made by the author using ChaosPro

Life is complex. The last week has been particularly so for me, but I’d rather not go into details about it. So, I’m keeping this week’s fractal somewhat on the simple side. I suppose in fractals, just like life, simplicity and complexity are often found side by side. I’ve always liked to describe…
Note from your fractalist: Sorry, folks, this one is a day late. I discovered early yesterday that my old website had been hacked. It has been fixed, now, although I plan to eventually remove everything from there, and repost it here somewhere. Just getting the bad scripts out has kept me plenty…
My apologies for getting the fractal out a day late, and for keeping it simple. Just as soon as I started to get caught up with things, I caught a nasty little cold. So, here are the basics-I'll get back to more detailed posts as soon as my head clears. Thanks for your patience! For this fractal,…
Hidden deep within the layers of the Mandelbrot set, subtle, yet familiar forms can almost leap out at you. This happened to me as I applied the coloring formula (based on Gaussian integers) to this week's fractal. I was merely looking for a pattern that was somewhat spotty. I ended up with this…
