A snowy tree and quick message

i-ef31fef255a9b0ecba308bdd9b80b960-snowytree.pngOh, the hustle and bustle of the holidays... Here, I was psyched and ready to go: prepared for finals, term papers either written or outlined, Christmas shopping done, baking ingredients bought... and what happens? I get sick, naturally. So, instead of writing and responding to comments, I’ve spent the past few days curled up in a feverish ball wishing for a magic cure, or save that, a swift death.

But... the snow finally came. After a few warm and even rainy weeks, Colorado has been blanketed in that fine white powder that our state is known for. The snow was so powdery and light that it didn’t make for very good snowballs--you could throw a shovelful and it would turn into a cloud. (I did this to my son a few times... fun stuff.)

Anyways, here’s a rather seasonal photo to admire while I recover from my cold and catch up on things. I’ve kept this dwarf Alberta spruce trimmed in a spiral shape, and then decorated it with antique beads handed down from my grandma. Covered in snow, it makes a beautiful holiday decoration.

Hey Karmen,
Don't do that, we need you! A virus rarely gets ahold of me, but when I feel one coming on I start to drink tons of water. If you understand the mechanisms, a virus hijacks your cell and turns it into a virus factory. Then it bursts or bores holes in your cell to let it's progeny out so they can go into thousands and millions of cells to do it over again. The tons of water seems to afford an avenue for your body to find the little critters and wash them out to end their cycle.
There are so many other innocent victims out there, they seem to flee to greener pastures! LOL!

You can also add Echinacea extract in the water. It works miracles on me, but I take it at the first indications of a cold (weakness, etc). I'm not sure how effective it is when you're deeper into it, but it surely won't hurt you. It's a beautiful flower anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echinacea
