De-lurking wrap-up

Thank you to the dozens of readers who took me up on my offer yesterday to give a personal response to every comment or question. As of this writing, I've got two comments left to respond to, and at that point I'm going to declare the offer expired (no complaints--you had your chance! And I've got to analyze this week's Casual Friday results at some point). This post is now actually the most active post on the entire ScienceBlogs network, so thanks again for all your great questions!

If you haven't had a chance to read through the questions, I'd encourage you to do so -- there are plenty of excellent ones, and surprisingly few duds. I do have one correction on that post -- I said we'd received 3,075 comments in the past year, but that's actually the total of comments for all of CogDaily's history. The real number for last year was probably more like 2,400, so the ratio of commenters to lurkers is even lower than I reported, not much more than 1 in 200.

So, if you want to know my views on consciousness, humor, peer review, altruism, religion, free will, gender differences, transhumanism, and even parapsychology, head on over there and check it out.

In other news:

Now that we're settling in to our new home, we'd like to introduce a fun new feature to Cognitive Daily: Casual Fridays. Every Friday, we'll post a quick, nonscientific survey or experiment for you to participate in. These "studies" will be very, very short -- fewer than five questions for surveys…
Last week's post on a Peer-Reviewed Research icon has generated a tremendous amount of interest, including many very thoughtful comments and an incisive post over on Cabi Blogs. I'll get to Philip's comments in a moment, because they are at the core of what "peer reviewed" means, but first let me…
Following last week's 400th anniversary post, I have another celebratory announcement. A year ago today*, I set foot in ScienceBlogs for the first time. As previously noted, some things have changed while others are much the same. The posting rate has gone up, and traffic has almost quadrupled…
