Probe Allegations On Global Warming Data

Scientists Say Findings Were Suppressed

Inspectors general at two agencies have begun an investigation into
whether the Bush administration has suppressed government scientists'
research on global warming, officials at NASA and the Commerce
Department confirmed yesterday...

...Some federal scientists interviewed yesterday said they welcomed the
probe because they had encountered problems in speaking to reporters
about their work...

...Tom Knutson, a climate research scientist at NOAA's Geophysical
Fluid Dynamics Laboratory in Princeton, N.J., said he could not speak
in his official capacity, "but as a private citizen, I think it's a
good idea they're looking into that. There should be open lines of
communication between scientists and the media, and some of what I
experienced did not meet that standard."...

, who often href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Inhofe#Environment">postures
and rants that global warming is a hoax or a myth, was upset,
wondering why the government should even bother investigating the
issue.  That, obviously, is an incredibly stupid thing to say.
The investigation has nothing to do with whether climate
change is happening, or whether it is due to human activity.
The investigators are looking into the possibility that the
Administration is trying to deceive the public.

This is one reason why having a Democratic congress matters. The Inspectors General of NASA and the Commerce Department have begun to investigate whether scientific findings were muzzled or altered by the Bush administration (italics mine): Prompted by a request this fall by 14 Democratic senators…
I'm sure you can guess what the suppressed report says about the link between hurricanes and global warming. Jim Giles at Nature reports (subscription only): A statement on the science behind the politically sensitive issue of hurricane activity and climate change has been blocked by officials at…
There's been a lot of beating up on NOAA--the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration--for squelching the viewpoints of some of its scientists on issues such as global warming and global warming's relation to hurricanes. And there certainly has been some troubling stuff reported on this…
A report by the NASA inspector general released earlier this week acknowledged that political appointees in the NASA press office censored climate scientists from 2004 to 2006. That would have been interesting news... about two years ago. Yawn. What caught my eye, though, were these claims in an…

I say enough already with Inhofe and his moronic aide - Morano. We've all been givin' him way to much attention (and free publicity)...btw like yr posts!
