Souter too?

Radley Balko reports:

Here's a wildcard for you: I have it on reasonably good authority that an unlikely retirement might be on the way, too. A Supreme Court insider told me several weeks ago that Souter may well retire. He apparently told friends and family that he has always planned to step down upon turning 65, and that he'd rather return to New Hampshire year-round than continue to spend time in D.C. He's 65 now.

Yowzah. This could get really, really ugly.

I've been so busy with unpacking that I didn't know until today that Chief Justice Rehnquist had died. It's certainly not a surprise, given his battle against thyroid cancer, but the timing is almost surreal. Not only does it follow on the heels of the disaster in the gulf coast area, but it is 3…
My husband turns 40 this weekend, and we are celebrating. When asked what he wanted to do for his birthday, he said he wanted a party, just like the ones we have for the kids on their birthdays - lots of food, lots of friends, very casual. We've managed to collect 40-50 friends and family…
I spent a great day yesterday visiting with old friends in two different shifts. First, I went down to MSU to spend a few hours with my old friends Will and Biza, who are brother and sister and in some ways like a little brother and sister to me. When I coached the debate team at Okemos High school…
It might have been Serendipity - we happened to be driving by, just Eric and I on our brief solo trip. Or it might have been the survey ribbons that went up across the road a few weeks ago - the suggestion that our neighbors who have been building a 5000 square foot house with a special dog-…

I had said, just about 25 hours ago, that I wish that John Paul Stevens would resign, and that he would be replaced by a constitutionalist justice. He is the oldest of the justices, so I had had him on my mind as a possibility for retirement. But a Souter retirement could be just as good. It would give the son a chance to correct the mistake that his father made... A decision that had it been different, could have overturned Roe v. Wade.

Yeah, let's see some septic coathangers. Those little bitches deserve to die for having sex.
