Okay, since I upgraded to MT 3.2, I haven't gotten a single comment on this blog and this is highly unusual. Is everyone just lurking? I've had almost a thousand hits so far today and not a word from anyone. It makes me wonder if I've got something screwed up and it's not letting comments through. Either that, or you guys are all trapped under something heavy. If you've tried to leave a comment and it didn't show up, please email me. If that's not the problem and you guys are just unusually quiet...WAKE UP.

Update: Holy for crying out loud. After 3 people emailed me to say they'd left messages, I did some digging through the junk comment folder. I found about 20 comments that never got through and were routed straight to the junk folder. I had to dig through almost 1000 poker and porn spams to find them, but I think I've restored them all to where they should be. While I'm still tweaking this new system, please email me whenever you get a message that says the comment is being reviewed (because I have comment moderation turned off, so it doesn't notify me) or leave a comment that doesn't show up. That'll help me find the right balance in terms of how vigilant the anti-spam protection is and also help me make sure your comment gets seen without having to plow through too much spam. I literally get about 700 spam comments per day, and about 500 spam trackbacks.

A bit of blog housekeeping here... Normally, I find out about new comments on my blog through e-mail notifications that get sent to me shortly after you, the reader and commenter, post your comments. I find it much easier simply to scroll through the e-mails and see what the reaction is to my posts…
Over a period of just over one week, just over 500 pieces of spam got through to my last spam filter, and were autodeposited in a "is this spam?" box. My primary e-mail account is buried behind three layers of spam and virus filtering, and my mailer has a Bayesian junk mail filter. At least five…
Just so folks know: ScienceBlogs is experimenting with some new anti-spam stuff, which should do away with the need for typekey. I've disabled typekey for Goodmath/Badmath, and we'll how it goes. If you've got cookies or cached data for the site, you might have a bit of trouble with comments for a…
I've finally had it with my mail software. I need advice on what I can do. Here's the situation: Mac OS X (that's not going to change), the standard Mac Mail program, everything up-to-date with the latest versions. I've got about 20 folders set up in Mail, with filters to automatically redirect…

Sorry. First rotation for graduate school and too little sleep. Brain fry. Nothing smart to say right now :P

Sorry; you usually say it so well I just nod in agreement and go on to the next blog. I really enjoyed the ass-whompin' you gave that Gibbons fellow.
