Not sure what to make of this, as the prediction appears to be based entirely upon the intuition of an experienced pediatric infectious disease specialist. It is reported on Medscape (open access, free registration required).
Given how many complaints we've been hearing lately about wasteful government spending, I thought this might be a good time to highlight some lesser-known, worthwhile government-funded programs that promote public health.
This was mentioned in the comments here, but I wanted to draw attention to it in a main post as well.
When I started medical school, I was not into kids. It was partly a matter of principle--I didn't want to do what everyone else was doing, and everyone else was loving kids, so it became my business to not like kids.
