Freethinker Sunday Sermonette: 7 minutes of Truth

This little rant has been around for a while, but since it can't be said too often, I'll let Marcus Brigstocke say it again. Seven minutes of Truth:

More like this

It's time once again for the inimitable Marcus Brigstocke on The Abrahamic Religions. Yes, I know we've done it before, but some of you may have missed it and those who have seen it will get to see it again because you can't see stuff like this too often. Especially when two of the main Abrahamic…
The title pretty much says it all. One of the reasons I wanted to get the Ten Years Before the Blog series done was that I'm incredibly burned out on everything right now, and I need to step away from the Internet for a while. There are too many things that aren't getting done, and I just can't…

Unfortunately, as we have been dreading for the last four months or so since her relapse was diagnosed, my mother-in-law passed away from breast cancer in hospice. She died peacefully, with my wife and the rest of her family at her side. As you might expect, I do not much feel like blogging.…

First answer to a problem is to define it..........

All sorts of valid points and too close to home for some. I am sure he will be gunned down from three sides at the earliest opportunity. Rushdie's security team needs to be transferred over to him.

I never tire of hearing this rant. It's a keeper.

The rant itself is great. I find it disturbing, however, that almost all the images of violence are confined to depictions of Muslims and Arabs.

Yeah well, if the shoe fits...

I agree with Fred. Whoever applied the graphics to the rant apparently didn't want to show Israeli bulldozers taking down Palestinian houses, or cross burnings on the lawns of homes and synagogues. But then, I suppose it's harder to find good graphics for leaving millions of unexploded cluster bombs lying around for Lebanese children to find than to show some cranky Muslims chanting.

For the record, I am neither Muslim, Christian, nor Jewish, and I still noticed the uneven choice of violent imagery. (Marcus Brigstocke, however, was correct in stating that he treated all three with pretty much equal disdain.)

...cranky Muslims chanting is as good an example of cranky (insert your preferred religious persuasion here)chanting as can be found...fundamentally they're all the same...

Hi Fred, Caia, I'm the guy who put together the graphics for the Brigstocke rant (my youtube name is alien8ted). I tried to be as even-handed as Marcus was in showing the violence in all the Abrahamic religions, but the graphic images I found were only of Muslim extremists. I included the hateful Westboro Baptist Church, and I agree I should have thought of using the KKK burning crosses and Israelis bulldozing Palestinian houses, but the idea hit me so suddenly while I was listening to the sketch and I wanted to get it up on youtube as quickly as possible.
