Freethinker Sunday Sermonette: like a roaming stoner

Is a report about aliens less believable than a report that someone rose from the dead? You have to admit, this guy has a point:

More like this

McGrath is back, straining to refute atheism. This time, his argument is with the claim that faith is blind. Is not, he says! And then proceeds to muddle together faith with belief with morality with science until he's got a nice incoherent stew, at which time he points to a few floaty bits in the…
I must admit that I'm surprised, because up till now I've not detected this, or heard of anyone complain of it. Routine censorship, of course, but fakery is a new thing. So: Potholes In Their Arguments is a post on the recent IMF report. I put in a comment pointing out that it was a bit late to…

Yes, I owned this album when it first came out in 1978. A recent post by Prof Matt Nisbet raised some Saturday night reflections for me as to how one measures one's impact as a blogger if one is so inclined to do so. But does this apparent impact or "influence" actually mean anything? I've got…

#&*%$@#$! These humans give UFO's a bad name.

Regarding UFO's, I find interviews with people like John Callahan (former FAA Division Head of Accidents and Investigations) much more informative than interviews with someone like this maroon.

"Interviews with someone like this maroon". Real good Edmund.
He's "maroon" huh? LOL - LOL - LOL

Lea, I think this guy is living in his own little world, so to speak.

I have more respect for the guy answering questions than the guy asking them. He believes in something I don't, so what?

I'd be more interested in having a conversation with this guy who believes in UFOs, who smiles more than most people I know, than any cynic who'd want to condemn a person for a belief, especially one as trivial in making a character judgment as the existence of UFOs.

For all that we know, this believer in UFOs spends every waking moment saving the lives of innocent babies, or maybe he visits sick people to make them happy.

If he smiles at one stranger, if he brightens the day of one person, then the only maroon is the idiot judging him for something so inconsequential.

Some of the greatest scientists and philosophers have believed in dubious things.

Thank you Sean Nicolle. Agree with your comment and I'll add something: The guy being interviewed is the first person I'd want on my side in any conflict.

Lea: Perhaps someone who has been so generous and loving in our heart would be living very long time, it is just an example. The art of memory individually and collectively therefore becomes a powerful saving force; you can name it as a religious impulse.

The art of memory has been refining and passing to many generations and authentically living as a universal experience of human beings. The experience and memory is so universal and embodying in our daily life, and we've recognized it as a kind of eternal reality.

This revelation had happened and continues to happen in human community and therefore we proclaim the Good News from when it had happened until now and in the future.

This is a very primitive understanding that I have perceived as the formation of Christianity. The Good News is not only ecumenical, if you like; it has become post-ecumenical whatsoever you name it.

The language of faith is metaphorical. We do not need to interpreter it literally. It doesn't belong to the classroom of Biology. So, not only in the history but also now we experience that resurrection happens.

Hey,
I want some of whatever he is taking. He looked pretty happy to me. Who cares about extra-terrestrials? I just want that magic happy pill.

Actually, Jesus will return in a spaceship, or so we will be told. Arrangements are already made. Thats why all the Left Behind stuff and the UFO talk, people will be able to connect the 2 when he God Ship comes.

You see, 6000 years ago aliens came to Iraq and mated with us humans, creating Adam and Eve in Iraq. Before this we were not much better than beasts, and so we were created. Every 1000 years or so they come for a visit, to Egypt with Moses, twice to Israel, once to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, to guide us to the next phase in our social evolution. They are overdue actually, it's about time for another visit, although this time they might leave someone behind and rule us, his name be Lucifer (maybe he is already here, was GWB born in Roswell by any chance?).

Sorry, tough day.

Really tough year. GWB by spaceship Air F. x, Beijing Olympic Opening ceremony? The whole world indeed will be watching his coming.

Pft, hey didn't you know Lucifer is already here - rumor out on the web is that Obama is the Antichrist - I was alerted to this by my boss who is a college educated mainline christian. The relgious bullshit never stops eh? Once you start believing in virgin births and ressurections you can believe in anything.

You do realize that WGN is a Chicago news station?

Who lives in Chicago and owns a 1.65 million dollar Georgian Revival home in Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood, located on the city's South side?

Shall GWB go to Olympic ceremony?

Tibet is the test for the international community; the globally compassionate action to resolve the hopeless people just by sending clear message to the persecutor.

I wish that GWB at least has done a right thing before his term; don't go, please don't go.

I can read Chinese mandarin and fully aware the up surge of nationalism of young generation in China at this moment. Exactly the copy of Arabian brain washing for new generation; now some radicals posted threat of killing for CNN reporters last few days.

The clear message for Chinese new generation is: this is the stance of civilized world, only peaceful expression allowed and protected.

Play with fire will be burned by it. I doubt that Chinese government can control this time.

Sorry Revere, for this Sermonette to save the people in despair.

It's off topic paiwan however that happens often here.
As far as GWB goes, he'll probably be there. I would also say to GWB, as if he'd listen, don't go.

Many Olympic medal "hopefuls" don't understand the sincere message and outcry of the Tibetan monks either.
They can only see one side of the coin, "nations coming together" type of mantra.

Lea: Thanks. We all have known that how difficult to say "NO" with true love. For the future generation of Chinese, and the hope that very few Chinese are yearning to have in their country.

Yesterday's NYtimes, our resilient empathy for Ms. Wang and many silent others.

By the way, only GWB is enough. Athelets should go, IMO.
