Most of the world believes in Darwin, but of course, not everyone thinks Darwin was right. And even some people who were brought up believing in Darwin can losw that belief:

Brilliant! For some reason, when the video ends, it didn't go to the usual screen that shows the URL. Can you tell us who the comedian is?
The comedian is Ricky Gervais, writer and star of the UK original, The Office.
Ricky is skating on thin ice here, blaspheming the Bible.

The United Nations has passed a Resolution that prohibits any citizen of a member country defaming religion, and will be votedon later this year to make it a binding resolution. So if England takes it's UN responsibilities seriously, Ricky should be arrested and charged with blasphemy! That's if he's in England. If he's in the US, then there is some confusion as to whether he should be arrested under US obligation to follow UN Resolutions, or be protected under the Constitutions right to free speeech. Hmmm, another dilemma for the world. I'm sure we'll get it sorted out one of these centuries.

How would this be defamation? Infact thinking about the proposed law how would you defame a religion. You need to say, or write, something untrue which could be tricky when you are talking about someones belief rather than tangible and verifiable facts. I soppose you could say the bible has 11 commandments which is untrue but not defarmation. If you added that the 11th was something most would view as a crime that might be defarmation but Gervais said nothing even mildly objectional what he said may have been tounge-in-cheek but (without the swearing) most of it could have been quotes from a creationist.

It is indeed rare that I agree with Revere on religion but the attachment is nothing but the non division of church and state and quite frankly it sounds like a reverse Obamanation bailout or spending blow out. Government funded religion.
Very hard to buy into this one because like many I disagreed with the statements of "historical documents", "Ten Commandments" in public libraries and Gods law in the courts. Reason for this is that I have sat in those jury rooms and I genuinely do not want people deciding death penalties and the like using that as a basis. Cant turn your other cheek when someone has a sawed off shotgun in it. Nor can I hit the switch if this bozo has God on his side as part of the law. I want them to decide someones fate upon the law and his crime, not whether God has to anything to do with it. This is the epitome of the division of church and state.
But, the above supposedly looks like a historical society agreement when in fact its to fix up the old church and then fund the spiffy on the new one. My tax dollars going for a church doesnt upset me too much, but what if I was a Muslim and there just happened to be a historical synagogue? Carry your faith in your heart and not on your shoulder and keep your wallet away from those who would convert and proselytize you. And ESPECIALLY politicians...
Besides that... It just aint legal.
This does tie in with the above and well the UN along with the Obamanation have already started trying to implement UN control of the US/UK. There is no treaty that has been approved by the Senate that Obama is working from, he is just trying to muscle this and quite a few other of the UN resolutions into place. The UN? They already have the EU for the better part and goddamn Obama really wants to run us down the red path. Anyone seen my little red book. But, the US Constitution by law... is not overridden EVEN BY TREATY that the Senate may pass. Even a ratified treaty that fails the test in the courts is not an enforceable measure. Thats failed many times before in both left and right wing courts.
It would only take a leftist to try and make it stick, and then a revolution to end it.
JJ: I was, of course, not saying that I believed Ricky was defaming Christianity. I am highlighting the situation that the Islamic nations have all banded together to drive trough the UN a resolution that will lead to extreme religious intolerance on the part of the religious power groups to charge anyone they wish with blasphemy and religious defamation.
I agree with you. How can you defame an ideology ,creed, idea, hypothesis etc? It is ludicrous. Nevertheless, it is a serious threat to free thinking and speech everywhere if it is ratified as a BINDING resolution on member states.
Randy: Sometimes I really try to follow your logic and figure out what you are saying, and this post is one of those. But I failed yet again. I have no idea what you are getting at, other than a partisan rant driven by ideology that Obama is steering the US towards socialism. What the hell has that got to do with what I posted, or the topic in general?
Your postings on Pandemic issues are often so lucid and insightful, but then you can also sound like someone who is completely blinded by ideology. Interesting.
What constitutes blasphemy towards the Koran is somewhat more strict.

Did you read the link provided by MRK RobT?
Pretty interesting, I especially liked this:
"Just because someone on the East Coast writes you a letter doesn't mean we're going to jump through a bunch of goddamn hoops," Supervisor Pete Livermore told the Nevada Appeal, Carson City's newspaper.
Randy, do you really believe that stuff?
You do realize that the socialism started on Bush's watch, don't you?
Throw $300,000,000,000 at something and you pretty well own it. We bought a bunch of banks and three car companies in September and October, before the election much less the inauguration. C'mon now, don't you like owning banks & car companies?:-)
Meanwhile, Hanoi Jane Limbaugh goes on saying he hopes the US government fails in dealing with the emergency. That's like someone saying they hope we lose a war. Downright un-American. Beyond the pale. And exactly NO excuse, any more than for someone cheering the Taliban. It's not like football. It's like hating your country.
