... is postponed until Saturday. I have to get final grades for my summer seminar computed and posted by midnight.
With luck, I'll have this week's conversation up by Saturday morning. It'll be like Saturday morning cartoons, but with fewer commercials for Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs (or whatever breakfast cereal the kids with cool moms are eating these days).
To tide you over, a few animal drawings from the younger Free-Ride offspring:
If you all can figure out any connection(s) between these five creatures, aside from them all being mammals, feel free to share in the comments.

Dr. Free-Ride: Well, Saturday morning I'll be at commencement, and I think I'll need to spend at least part of Saturday afternoon grading.
Younger offspring: Aww, do you have to go to commencement?

A conversation yesterday as we were running home to get the elder Free-Ride offspring ready for a soccer practice:
Dr. Free-Ride: Do you want to change out of your "picture day" clothes before practice?
Elder offspring: Nah, I'm good. I'll just change into shin guards, soccer socks, and cleats.

Is that a leading question? Is there some connection? All but deer are squirt toys my 1 year old daughter plays with in the tub. But I suspect that's not it. :[
Obviously if the animal's name is written in blue it lacks an exclamation mark.
Did she see all those examples of charismatic megafauna at the zoo??
Obviously if the animal's name is written in brown the eyes are up and down lines. Otherwise the eyes are more round.
None of them are Kosher?
Your kids aren't just smart and talented, they're SCARY smart and talented!
@ Becca: Deer are kosher, but only if they're farm-raised and killed according to kosher regulations. Deer killed by hunting aren't, because the animal suffered in the process.

See, I learned something!
Still, I propose that the particular deer depicted is a wild deer. It seems very lean to be farm raised and fattened up for slaughter. Of course, it could still be killed in a Kosher fashion, I suppose.
