I will be leaving town tomorrow to spend most of this coming week in Washington D.C., participating in the annual extravaganza known as the Joint Mathematics Meetings. This is quite simply the place to be if you have any interest in mathematics.
Of course, this means I will only have limited internet access for the next few days. So I will not be blogging, and I will not be making detailed replies to comments. Try to soldier on in my absence!

The annual chess extravaganza known as The World Open will be taking place in Philadelphia this weekend. I will be participating, of course. That means I will be out of town for the next week or so. Regular blogging will resume upon my return.
Time to get back to the classroom! Our spring semester starts tomorrow. This term I'll be teaching Calculus I and History of Math. I have a relatively light teaching load this term, as my reward for accepting a relatively heavy teaching load last term.
