Does anyone know the backstory to the child mummy in this Shakira video?
Update: A reader emails:
It's just a child with a mask, as sort of reference to the carnival in
barranquilla (http://www.carnavaldebarranquilla.com/ ), where she is
from in Colombia. The video is full of references to colombia.

Dunno yet. I'll expand on this if I do. For the moment, CRU themselves are not excited.
Update: it looks very much like this is nothing new, just those mails deemed to dull to release last time. So, as Deltoid points out, and claims to being doing this for "information transparency" is a clear lie…
This is so old (January 02, 2005) yet quite prescient...

People don't talk about me much, so I'll point you at ocham.blogspot.com. It is even kind, in parts, but the problem he points out - the difficulty of maintaining an article like [[Existence]] - is quite genuine. I'm currently hacking through various "esoteric" bits of wikipedia removing cruft (I…
I don't know how many times I've seen this video, and I can't recall ever seeing a child mummy... must've been distracted...
Hahahahahahaha
Really, though, I'm a "face guy." It's only once the face / hair have been controlled for that my eye wanders downward.
Agnostic,
LOL, I'm with you - I never saw a Mummy before either. I probably would have, had it been wearing a tight red skirt!
Don't know what the reference is to, except that she is part Lebanese, which was once ruled by Egypt. IIRC Nefertiti may have been Syrian/Lebanese by birth...
So maybe she is using the melting pot that was Egypt to tie together the descendants of Sub-Saharans, with peoples of the Mediterranean/Levant, and their parallels today in the Gulf of Mexico, where the islands contain descendants of Sub-Saharan Africans for the most part, while the mainland contains descendants of the Mediterranean littoral...
I never took the time to notice the mummy. I was more focuse on Shakira's hips.
