Frank's RedHot Original

where I often get my lunch, and they offer a wide selection of hot sauces for condiments. I always pick out Frank's RedHot Original because it's the hottest of the bunch. By "hot" I'm talking on a relative scale, it's a typical cayenne sauce, powerful enough to terrify civilians, but nothing intimidating for true soldiers. Nevertheless, I really enjoy its tangy flavor, it adds some extra dimensions of taste that nicely complement the heat (and compensate for its middle-row "spice" rating). It some ways it reminds me of the Trappey's Red Devil cayenne sauce, though the flavor is more subtle and richer.

I was at the local food co-op when I saw Brother Bru Bru's African Hot Sauce. It said it was "very hot!" on the label, and since some of you had recommended African hot sauces to me earlier I decided to check it out. The label suggests that there were assorted peppers mixed into this concoction…
I love Thai peppers for their "fresh" flavor. The very hottest of these (according to the Scoville scale) overlap with the mildest of the Habenero. The Thai is spicy enough and slight enough that unlike the Serrano it never feels like you are a munching on a salad. My own particular favorite are…
I'd assumed that Mad Dog's Revenge Habanero & Chile Extract would be the spiciest "sauce" of the bunch. I put sauce in quotations because it isn't a hot sauce, it's a food additive. The label warns not to use this as a hot sauce because it is way too spicy. How spicy? The label says, "1,000,…
I recently started eating beef again, after 18 years of abstaining. Last weekend, I made a big batch of Chili using beef, and it was fantastic. So I thought that was a good excuse to give you my chili recipe. This is real chili. Up here in NY, usually when you see chili, it's ghastly stuff.…

It's especially good on pizza.

I used to be a tabasco man, but I've switched over to Frank's a while ago. I can't eat eggs without it. And it's the best sauce for making buffalo wings ('cause it's the original sauce for making buffalo wings).

mmm, Frank's Red Hot. My aging digestive system can't handle very hot stuff anymore, so I appreciate Frank's moderate heat and peppery flavor. Always buy the small bottle, as the flavor will fade over time once it's been opened.
