A few weeks ago, I wrote a post that was pretty critical of the current state of Experimental Philosophy. In the post, I focused on the work of Joshua Knobe, not because his work is the worst Experimental Philosophy has to offer, but because it is, in my mind, the best by far. Yesterday on the…
Implicit attitudes and associations can tell us a lot about a person. It's a way to find out if they might have a racial or gender bias, and recently there has even been some work suggesting that an implicit association test can tell us whether someone is lying -- it's called the autobiographical…
I've blogged about some great papers in the past, but today I'm blogging about the best... paper... ever. It's by Arina K. Bones, of the University of Darache in Monte Carlo, and Navin R. Johnson of Opti Corp, was published in the December issue of Perspectives on Psychological Science (with a…
Think of a scientist - not anyone in particular, just a random individual working in the field. Got one? Did you picture a man or a woman? If it's the former, you're probably not alone. There have been a few times when I've only ever known a scientist through their surname on a citation and…

You're just saying that to be able to hit on college-aged upper-middle class girls... hmmmm. How much are Obama '08 bumper stickers?

Pr.Bush is secretly supporting Republican candidate with recent events. Trial of Al Qaeda terroists is to remind voters of war on terror. Trial of `Chinese spies' and shooting Down Its Own Spy Satellite are to remind of `China threat'. Well, it might work.

That felt kind of like an IQ test that I kept failing. Mine is similar to Zeeb's 'cept Obama and Hillary are a little closer together and reversed... even though I've never had any positive feelings toward her that I'm aware of.

Maybe the pictures reminded me of a jolly old botox-y grandma.

Also I think females conform to males politically way more than the latter. The men who affect political views to get laid are the kinds of "outsiders" who would've voted Dem anyway. The frat folk and regular Joes with girlfriends tend to be Pubs.

College kids in general are a lot more conservative than is commonly recognized.

They might've voted Dem, but not necessarily Obama, or perhaps would've been moderate... but really I'm talking about what they preach, not how they'll end up voting.

It's like The Da Vinci Code was a few years ago. Things like those are great since you get to share in the girl's interests, in a way that exceeds her expectations ("I never would've thought!"), and crucially in a way that's not gay (like talking about how much you love shopping).

I did the test, and all four came out exactly equal.
