Secular Media Caused Colorado Shootings

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council (a Christian Right non-profit "think" tank founded by James Clayton "Jim" Dobson) blames the secular media for home schooled Matthew Murray's deadly rampage in Colorado. According to Perkins:

"It is hard not to draw a line between the hostility that is being fomented in our culture from some in the secular media toward Christians and evangelicals in particular and the acts of violence that took place in Colorado yesterday."

Well, I've been grading exams for about ten minutes, and I'm already depressed. (One of my students seems to think that one fourth is an integer. Get the idea?) So how about another post? Here's Keith Olbermann from last nights' edition of Countdown proving once again why he is the only one…
Another day, another example of the moral bankruptcy of the James Dobson gang. For those few of you not familiar with Dobson's particular brand of twisted faith-based logic, he's the head of Focus on the Family, a national organization devoted to holding back the tide of liberty, fraternity and…
Today's Washington Post includes an exploration of a relatively recent trend among evangelical Christians: environmentalism, or more specifically, climate change activism. There's not a lot new here, as the story has been covered in some depth for the last year or so. But it's worth reviewing,…
On the weekends, my four-year old daughter comes to work with me. There isn't much for her to do. She certainly isn't allowed in patient rooms. She doesn't help me make medical decisions. But we spend twenty minutes each way in the car laughing. We walk around the hospital, everyone greeting…

Tony Perkins should try to read a little before demonstrating to the world that he is a dumbass. According to the latest reports, the shooter apparently was booted from the missionary program where he did the first shootings. He was a christian wannabe but the christians didn't want anything to do with him. I'm sure Jesus would have booted him out, too.

Apparently, the shooter had battled mental illness for years- depression, suicidal feelings, and even hearing voices (!) Perhaps he was a victim of child abuse as well, I don't know if we'll ever find out the truth about that. He lashed out at Christians but blaming Christianity for his actions is like blaming the U.S.P.S. when some nut shoots up a post office.
