I think I rented the wrong DVD

It's been at least 20 years. Back there with Dark Star. Wow.

I loved Dark Star! I remember seeing it (for the first time) on BBC2 late one night during an SF season. One of the coolest movies (along with Silent Running). I loved the blobby alien, and the attitudinal bombs.

best. movie. evah!

Holy Crap! I saw this on a cheesy 16 mm projector when it was new. I was an ignorant kid at the time, but watching now, I realize that that was the legendary Paul Frees narrating! (A quick trip to IMDB confirms my ear for voice actors.) How did such a low-budget bit of fun manage to snag Paul Frees? Holy Crap!

I did laugh, I did cry, and I did kiss 3 bucks goodbye. Then 30 bucks for the VHS version, 8 bucks for the theatrical re-release, 15 bucks for the DVD, and soon(?) the 3-D version...
