The Universe May Not be Expanding

... according to Texas education experts.

Of course, everyone in Texas is a moron. Apparently.

Jason Wiles delivers a lovely smackdown of Huckabee's position on evolution. First, he hits him hard on his record as governor of Arkansas. During Huckabee's tenure as Governor, evolution education in Arkansas languished in an environment of general hostility and insufficiency. Two anti-evolution…
Obviously, Uri Geller is a fraud. Always has been. He had tricks he uses to make people think he's bending a spoon using super natural powers, or moving compass needles, etc. Mainly, he uses cheap tricks to fool gullible ready-to-be-fooled people. Don't be a ready-to-be-fooled person! Here's are…
On Monday, Birmingham mayor Larry Langford was busted by the feds for bribery and fraud in connection with a multibillion-dollar sewer bonding that has caused the county in which Birmingham is seated to end up in near bankruptcy. Langford, Montgomery investment banker Bill Blount and lobbyist Al…
I guess this just goes to show how out of touch I am with things going on in Texas after being gone for almost three years. I didn't know until I saw it on a ScienceBlogs homepage buzz that Chris Comer--who was forced out of her job as the Texas Education Agency's director of science curriculum…

Probably the best line about Texas ever!

Chelina Hall: Hey! Pretty boy. Howâd you like to go to Texas?

Alan Shore: Iâd love to. I havenât had my shots.

Hey, not all of us are morons, so says the UT graduate who just wrote a check to TFN to unseat the biggest Texas moron of all-Don McElroy.

I clicked this in my RSS feed expecting some cool new evidence that overturns the current physics model of the universe. How sadly disappointed I was.

I'd like to motion that we have "avid discussion" to take place in math classrooms about whether pi is equal to 3.141[....], and strike that language and replace it with "current theories about the number pi being equal to a little over 3, or 'almost 3'."

Jason,

Don't you understand the spiritual significance of the number 3? God is 3 persons that are all the same. Jesus died on a Friday evening and 3 days later on Sunday morning he arose. The circle's circumferance is 3 times as long as its diameter. Etc. Can't you see that it's all spiritually interconnected??? It is at the heart of Christianity!

If we were to allow schools to teach that Ï is what mathematicians say it is, kids would be learning that the heart of Christianity is ... irrational! Obviously math doesn't have all the answers. Our children need to be taught the strengths and weaknesses of arithmetic "theory".

Another best-ever line about Texas:

I don't have a problem with an asteroid the size of Texas hitting the earth, as long as it actually hits Texas.

Go, Donna! (Or if it still doesn't work out, you can always come up here.)

McElroy, Bachman, McElroy, Bachman ...

Ah, what the Hell -- I'm in Arizona, so it's not like I can point fingers.
