Wilson Rebuked

Rebuke. v. Call on the carpet: censure severely or angrily; "The mother scolded the child for entering a stranger's car"; "The deputy ragged the Prime Minister"; "The customer dressed down the waiter for bringing cold soup"

The house rebuked Wilson. It was almost a party line vote, but not completely. The wisdom on the street is that the Democrats will pay a small cost for this, as Wilson, the snotty face whinging Republican from South Carolina will play the victim. But, the wisdom on the street is also that this was the right thing to do.

That is the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans only act to gain what they need for selfish political and financial purposes. Democrats like to do that sort of thing too, of course, but they will also, and frequently, pay a cost to do what is right. That is what happened in this case.

The 2000 election was probably won by Al Gore. But George Bush was put into office anyway. Imagine what this world would be like had Gore been ensconced in the white house? The Tea Party would probably have emerged sooner and madder, but less organized; global climate change would have become a…

Fellow ScienceBlogling Chris Mooney comped me a copy of the second edition of his book, The Republican War on Science, and I have finally managed to get around to writing a review of it. Here's the short version: buy this book. It details exactly what the Bush Administration has done to U.S.…
