Linux in Exile has some boot time data for Fedora and an interesting piece on how Microsoft Word can cause you to lose access to your own documents.
There are now 20,000 Android apps.

There are many versions of Linux.
There are many versions of Linux, but the two biggies seem to be Debian (on which Ubuntu and many other distributions are based) and Red Hat. Red Hat uses a commercial support model, so it is an example of a very different approach than Ubuntu.
I'm not sure what I think of Gnome 3's Shell Interface. Imma try it out but I think they may have fallen into the trap of making the desktop the point rather than, well, emacs and a web browser the point (the only two pieces of software I use every day and both days).
RIP Ubuntu. Ubuntu was great. For years, I kept trying to get my own Linux box up and running, initially so I could relive the halcyon days of UNIX and later so I could avoid Windows. But every time I tried to get Linux working some key thing would not be configurable or would not work.
If the iPhone was dubbed the "Jesus Phone" what religious figure is an Android Phone?
FYI - The 20,000 app number is actually off

I have an Android phone, and i like it. However, i don't like Google much, and i dislike them more every day, for various reasons. Like the Cyanogen thingie. The latest is that they made Android as free/open source, but held Android Market colsed. So you can use the market only onj phones that Google likes, or gets paid for.
This wouldn't be a big deal if developers were a little more carefull, but i have programs (leagaly) installed that want to check for updates, try to open Android Market, and crash. Not cool.
My next phone will probably be a Nokia N900, with Maemo - a truly open source OS, practicaly a debian.
Paladin: I think that if consumers had a clue (or most of them, anyway) companies would be fighting to be more and more OpenSource to get our business.
