The Republican's Greatest Hoax?

My friend Paul was on the Ed Show. A few classic lines:

More like this

As I went to bed this evening, I turned on the TV to watch a little bit before I fell asleep and found out that Johnny Carson had died. I could not turn it off, as I watched clips of his shows and reminiscences from his friends. And I felt compelled to write something. Like half the country, I grew…
Via JEB, a report of what is called a bet on global warming. However, in a fit of holier-than-thouness, both side have decided to give their winnings to charity, and have picked *the same* charity, so its all a bit of a waste of time. They might as well hand the money over now :-) On the CD: Back…
Time to get back to some topology, with the new computer. Short post this morning, but at least it's something. (I had a few posts queued up, just needing diagrams, but they got burned with the old computer. I had my work stuff backed up, but I don't let my personal stuff get into the company…
Seriously. Let's make a list. Let's get all the 'Nam vets and say, "OK, you folks, you did your job for the country, you're about the right age, we want one of you to be in charge. Now let's get your credential, both positive and negative, and put them together and see which one of you should run…

Their greatest lie?? Easy...That they really give a schite about ordinary people and their lives.

Forget greatest lie...how about any version of the truth? They only care for themselves and their rich patrons.

Certainly the most consequential, but there's a general cascade of crocodile tears and mastery of Orwellian newspeak. One example: Republicans are now trying to extend "right to work" laws.

They make organizing as difficult as they can, and disguise union bashing as the defense of "individual employee rights." At the same time they ensure that these rights do not include workplace safety or a livable minimum wage. Class warfare is then redefined:

"...this time Republicans shouldn’t forget the workplace, and cleaning up the indefensible rules that have long favored deep-pocketed labor bosses over employees."

A workplace in which workers have no representation and are at the mercy of their employers becomes a vision of freedom:

The new Congress can offer a workplace that is more fair, and free, too."

Just goes to show: When you wield a powerful oratorical weapon that preys upon insecure people's fears and prejudices, you can manipulate them even to the extent of enticing them to follow courses of action that lead to their own demise...
